Christy Currie

Christy Currie . Speaker & Writer

When I was in middle school I went to several YFC camps down in Kansas. Those were the greatest weeks of the year for me, and I wanted to forever be a part of whatever that staff was doing to make me feel important as a person, and to God. I went to college and graduated with a degree in youth ministry, and I have never looked back!

I began my journey with YFC during my junior year of college. I was pursuing a degree in youth ministry and needed an internship. I have always been drawn to YFC and it was a great fit right from the start. I spent the first couple of years interning with high school ministry, but then after graduating I came on full-time with the both the high school, and middle school. I was also able to be the intern coordinator, middle school director, and training director at various times during those first ten years. The last few years I have volunteered at a middle school club, helped with communications, and speak at different events.

I am currently volunteering with YFC – mostly helping Jason with communications, and relationship building with donors and staff.I also speak as often as I can to youth groups, women’s groups, YFC related events, retreats, and anything God puts in my path.YFC is a huge part of our family, with Jason being the Executive Director, we find ourselves doing ministry together quite often. I have lost count of all the games, concerts, donor meetings, and CL events that we have gone to as a family.

I often feel like the teenage years are our last chance to reach students with them message of Christ. They are making so many decisions, and are being transformed into adults while being heavily influenced by the world and people around them. I love the platform that we have to share the gospel right in the school, every single week. I love that the lost kids of this city have an opportunity to have an adult spend time with them, and share the love of Jesus with them.

Campus Life has helped developed me as a leader, speaker, and Christian!I also LOVE our staff and YFC family! I am so blessed to be part of a team that supports each other and genuinely provides a sense of family. I am very proud of the people and their families that are a part of Omaha YFC. My husband and I met through YFC and we have such a joined spirit and perspective in our roles with this ministry. We are a team, and I am grateful for the chance to do this with him.

More About Christy

I am married to Jason Currie (executive director), I am truly honored to be married to Jason. He is my best friend, and my biggest fan. Not only does he daily make me laugh, but he leads our family with humility and strength. We have 3 kids. Isaiah, our oldest, loves basketball as much as his dad and has dreams of either playing in the NBA or becoming and astronaut. Summer, our brown-eyed-girl, loves to swim and play with her babies and stuffed animals. She has a servant’s heart, and looks for ways to quietly help others. Zane, like his brother and dad, lights up when he sees a basketball! The boys have inspirational pictures in their room of the famous bball players Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, and Jason Currie.

Perfect day would include wakeboarding, speaking, catching fireflies with the kids and driving to the beach as a family in a jeep.

A dream is to own a summer bait shop.

Favorite books are the Chronicles of Narnia.
