James Bergsten

James Bergsten . Campus Life Club Leader & Youth Pastor

I’m a part-time youth pastor in SW Omaha so doing CL ministry in the same geographic area is awesome!  It creates more and more opportunities for me to connect with students.  I love how Millard in so many ways feels like a small town.  There is such a cool community feel!

I love doing ministry where the students are.  I like going into schools, on the kid’s turf, and doing club ministry. It’s so easy for that kid who is just walking down the hall to hear something about cookies or donuts and decide to check out what’s happening.  They would probably never come to anything outside of school but we’re there for them.

Of course dodge ball is cool too.

When I was in middle school and high school there were three guys that were really cool and loved Jesus.  They invested in me and showed me that you could have a relationship with Jesus and still be an awesome human being.  I want to be that example for my students.  Middle school and high school is when people are discovering who they want to be for the rest of their lives and I want to play a huge role in that process.

I didn’t start out on the youth ministry track. Actually, I was set to graduate from college and go to business school for a master’s degree when I was asked to be a speaker on a Sr. High ski trip.  In that one weekend I fell in love with Sr. High students and youth ministry.

More about James

I have a wife named Emily.  She does everything with me. . . literally.  She is at my side constantly in my ministry AND she is way better at it then me.  I’m continually blown away by the numerous ways that I see God using her.  We have three children named Gavin, Chloe and Will. This is an incredible season of life for me and my family.
